Singer Mzbel has quizzed Kuami Eugene over his claim that Sarkodie endorsed Akufo-Addo’s campaign in their collaboration tune without his knowledge.
This comes after Kuami Eugene’s earlier comment that he is not comfortable with Sarkodie’s endorsement of President Akufo-Addo on their collaboration titled ”Happy Day”.
The song was released on November 2, and and it sent social media into a frenzy for hours.
On “Happy Day”, Sarkodie endorsed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Akufo-Addo and asked that he be given a second term.
In an interview with MzGee on 3FM, Kuami Eugene lamented he had no idea it was for such an agenda.
He said Sarkodie only sent him one verse of the song which never contained the endorsement part just to aid him in composing the chorus and his verse.
Kuami Eugene went ahead to state that he only got to know that the song contained the endorsement of NPP when he was on set ready to shoot the music video.
The musician who seems not happy about the development believes Sarkodie’s endorsement in the song will affect his career.
Mzbel on Neat FM said Kuami Eugene should stop giving an impression that Sarkodie deceived him.
He questioned why the Lynx Entertainment signee did not decline to shoot the music video after hearing the song.
“Right now, it is not the Label that is talking. It is Kuami Eugene that is talking. So, if he can talk now, he could have spoken then . . . If they were giving him a drug and he didn’t like it, would he say the Record Label says so and so he will take it . . . So, it means you knew about it and yet you joined it. Because if you say you found out on the day of the video shoot, you could have opted out”
“…if he can talk now, then he could have spoken that he didn’t like it. It wasn’t too late; it’s not out. So, he could have said he didn’t like it; it will affect me. If the Record Label was forcing you, your parents are there. People are there. The management of the Record Label are humans. They can’t force you to take a drug to kill yourself because you’ve signed with them. So, if you saw how the video shoot went and you kept mute for us to finish the video shoot, you can’t talk now. You can’t say that Sarkodie deceived you,’’ she told the host.
“Did Sarkodie point a gun at your head to do the song?” she questioned the musician.
