Do detox diets really work?

Getting rid of bodily toxins through detox diets offer little to almost no evidence, according to critics. This is because the body can naturally cleanse itself through the liver or through different metabolic processes.

However, Anthony Beven, a certified blood analyst, founder of Detox Day Spa and a cancer survivor himself, believed otherwise. Beven was HIV positive and had benign anal cancer, which opened to his idea of detoxifying his entire system while his doctors offered him chemotherapy.

Beven told his doctors to flush his body, and reset and rebuild his immune system. After the drastic procedure, his T-cells dramatically shoot up and he recovered, hence the birth of his own detox program.

The session includes collecting blood specimen for analysis. Following the assessment, plant-based diet, supplement and vitamin recommendations are then provided to compensate with the fat, protein and sugar deficiency based on the data gathered from the examined sample.

Footbath is also given, in which the toxins get drained from the pores of the soles. Then, there will be a 15-minute massage session after, followed by an infrared sauna stay for 25 minutes.

Finally, 2.5 gallon of alkaline water is given to drink. According to Beven, several individuals with various health complaints, ranging from complex to simple ones such as diverticulitis, gout, cancer, headaches and even just to lose some weight have come for his aid.

Some of the success stories of Beven’s discovery is Matt Brown’s case. Brown was recommended by his doctors to get a leg amputation after severely breaking his tibia from a 16-foot fall. Brown dismissed his doctors’ advice and strictly resorted to natural healing, and then went to Beven’s spa to treat the pain and inflammation on his affected leg.

Brown said that detox relieved all he’s feeling and that Beven’s program is not a hoax.

Julie Hoensheid also sought cure for her multiple sclerosis and lead levels in Detox Day Spa. Hoensheid’s lead levels reduced after 35 days in the program and she also lost 17 pounds from her weight.

Beven said he does not advertise his procedures as a panacea to cancer or other ailments, rather it is just alleviating the symptoms in a more natural way.
