Donewell Insurance has not rebranded, CEO says

Seth Kobla Aklasi, CEO of Donewell Insurance, has clarified that the company has not undergone any rebranding. This statement addresses recent media reports suggesting otherwise.

Mr. Aklasi explained that the confusion may stem from the rebranding of Donewell Life Assurance, a separate entity with distinct ownership and management. He noted that prior to the enactment of the Insurance Act, 2006 (Act 724), Donewell Insurance offered both life and non-life insurance services. The new legislation required the separation of these services, leading to the creation of Donewell Life Assurance. In 2015-2016, changes in shareholding further distinguished the two companies.

Donewell Insurance continues to operate in the general insurance sector, offering products such as fire and allied perils, motor insurance, personal accident, bonds, contractors all risk, money insurance, plant and machinery, fidelity guarantee policies, goods in transit, and public liability policies. Mr. Aklasi assured customers that the company’s name and operations have remained consistent since its inception in 1993.

Established on November 3, 1988, Donewell Insurance Ltd is a limited liability company owned by the Methodist Church, institutional investors, professional trade associations, and other individuals. The company has received several industry awards, including Best Performing Insurance Company (2018) at the Ghana Insurance Awards and the Prudent Underwriting Award (2020) by Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited.

Additionally, since 2018, Donewell Insurance has supported the National Blood Bank and 37 Military Hospital through its annual blood donation drive, contributing approximately 2,500 pints of blood to the national stock. This initiative earned the company the Best Company in Promoting Voluntary Blood Donation award by Sustainability & Social Investment Awards in 2018.

In summary, Donewell Insurance remains dedicated to providing innovative services in the general insurance market, maintaining its established identity and commitment to professionalism.
