The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His excellency Mahamudu Bawumia has described the Presidential candidate for the opposition party, John Mahama as an incompetent, yet very nice man.
Dr Bawumia believes Mr Mahaman is unfit to be the president of Ghana and believes the country needs an individual who can manage the affairs of the country.
In his opinion, Mahama is not competent enough to handle this mandate.
Whilst addressing supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the National Youth Rally held in the Northern Regional capital, Tamal, Dr Bawumia said, “People say that John Mahama is a nice man. Oh yes, he may be a nice man but he is a nice man who if you give the economy, very soon, you cannot get teacher trainee allowance, nurses trainee allowance, pay your child’s school fees, get a job to do, agriculture will be declining, electricity prices will be going up.”
“Is this the kind of nice man we want? He may be a nice man but he is an incompetent nice man,” he added.
Dr Bawumia has been on a streak, throwing jabs at the NDC and John Mahama in particular, over the last few weeks. Two weeks ago, he challenged them to present proof of a single policy they left behind in the northern belt before leaving office.
He said the former president had nothing to show for his four years in office as president and the other four he spent as vice president of the late Evans Atta Mills.
Dr Bawumia believes the only thing the former president was good at, was mismanaging the funds of the country, so much that Ghana had to fall on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for bailout and credibility.
He believes the country must reject people like Mr Mahama and the NDC and retain the NPP in the 2020 elections, so they can keep up with the good work they have already started.
He further went on to say, “The presidency is not for nice men or women. It is for doers. People who can make things happen.
“The government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been in office for just about three years and even though there is still a lot to do, any objective assessment of our performance over the last three years will agree that we have performed much better than the situation we inherited at the beginning of 2017.”
The NDC has responded to the jabs and allegations made by Dr Bawumia with a long list of projects and social intervention programmes that were undertaken during Mahama’s tenure.
Dr Bawumia still believes these projects are not enough to give an incompetent and yet nice man, another opportunity at ruling the country.
