Education Minister demands arrest of Bole SHS teacher over sexual misconduct allegations

By News1

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has called on the Ghana Police Service to intensify efforts to apprehend a teacher from Bole Senior High School who is accused of sexually assaulting a student in the school’s science laboratory.

Speaking at the 2026 GALOP National School Awards on Thursday, Mr. Iddrisu condemned the alleged act as “unacceptable and shameful,” and urged law enforcement to ensure the suspect is swiftly prosecuted to serve as a strong deterrent against such misconduct.

Reports indicate that the teacher has fled the area and is believed to be hiding in neighbouring border towns, prompting the Minister to publicly press the police for urgent action.

“The incident in Bole is unacceptable. To the Police, we are watching how you proceed with the investigation and subsequent prosecution to deter this kind of behavior,” Mr. Iddrisu stated.

Beyond the criminal case, the Minister issued a direct warning to the Ghana Education Service (GES), ordering strict disciplinary measures against any form of indiscipline within schools.

He emphasised that both teachers and students must be held accountable for conduct that undermines professional and institutional integrity.

In a related development, the GES has suspended the suspect’s salary pending his return to duty, as authorities continue their search.
