The Ministry of Education has issued a strong warning to the public regarding the circulation of fake and digitally manipulated Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) placement slips on social media.
In a press release dated September 9, 2026, and signed by Press Secretary Hashmin Mohammed, the Ministry stated that “unscrupulous individuals” are attempting to undermine public confidence in the placement process by altering documents to falsely claim that the Ministry has changed students’ original placement results.
The Ministry describes these claims as “false and misleading.”
According to the statement, preliminary internal verification has revealed that the slips circulating on social media do not correspond with records generated from the official CSSPS platform. Specifically, the Ministry noted that the barcodes and QR codes on the purported slips do not match the placement information presented on the documents.
“The evidence available to the Ministry indicates that the affected documents have been digitally manipulated or otherwise altered to create the impression that students’ placements have been changed,” the statement read.
Furthermore, the Ministry clarified that its system audit logs do not support the claims being made by those circulating the materials.
Citing the potential to “create unnecessary confusion and anxiety among students, parents, and guardians,” the Ministry has escalated the matter.
The issue has been referred to the Cyber Security Authority and other relevant security agencies for further investigation and appropriate action.
The Ministry is urging the public to exercise caution and refrain from sharing unverified placement slips. Parents, guardians, and students are advised to rely solely on placement information obtained through official CSSPS channels.
“The Ministry remains committed to ensuring that the 2026 CSSPS placement exercise is conducted with transparency, fairness, integrity, and accountability,” the statement concluded, while assuring the public that any legitimate concerns regarding placement will be duly investigated.
