Members of the majority side of parliament in Ghana could not hide their joy when the new Ekumfi Fruit Juice product was introduced to parliament.
The Juice product branded under the name “Eku Juice”, was introduced during the reading of the 2020 national budget.
The Minister for Information and MP for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, presented the product to the house during his submission to the house, focusing on the benefits of the flagship programs undertaken by the government.
The Ekumfi Juice Factory forms a part of government’s One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative.

In his submission to the house, he said, “When we rolled out the 1D1F Program, there was a lot of mockery but that flagship program in addition to the stimulus package that was provided is beginning to bear fruit. I hold in my hands here Eku Juice from the Ekumfi Juice Factory soon to be rolled out onto the market.”
Going on he said, “Another project of the Akufo-Addo administration in the Central Region which was subjected to so much ridicule, but today that flagship program is beginning to bear fruit.”
The project that cost $8million commenced work in March 2018 and currently has 400 workers, including out-growers.
Ekumfi Juice Factory can process about 300,000,000 packs of juice for both local and international consumption and is expected to generate close to GH¢530 million in revenue.
This factory in terms of employment is expected to employ the services of at least 5,000 direct out-growers within the community and its environs.
