The Electoral Commission (EC) has summoned an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting for Wednesday, February 11, 2026, to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election.
In a notice issued to all registered political parties, the Commission stated the meeting will be held at its Corporate Head Office in Accra at 11:00 a.m.
The agenda will focus solely on the conduct and organisation of the by-election, with each party permitted to send only two representatives.
The meeting is part of the EC’s standard stakeholder engagements designed to foster transparency, build consensus, and ensure smooth electoral administration.
IPAC serves as a key platform for discussing operational, security, and logistical plans, as well as addressing concerns from political actors.
Dr. Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairperson for Corporate Services, signed the notice on behalf of the EC Chairperson.
The Ayawaso East by-election has drawn significant public and political interest in recent days, partly due to internal controversies within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
These include allegations of vote-buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries, amplifying scrutiny on the electoral process.
During the session, the Commission is expected to outline key timelines, electoral arrangements, and measures intended to guarantee a free, fair, and credible poll in the constituency.
