Emirates Airline has in a statement released explained why 2019 “Di Asa” winner could not board her flight to Dubai as part of her winning package.

Management of the airline revealed that the action was taken as a safety measure. According to Emirates, all passengers for safety and by aviation regulations have to be comfortably seated, with their seatbelts fastened.

Emirates in their statement went on to add that, it is industry practice for passengers who cannot fit into a single plane seat to only purchase extra seats “should a seat be available”.

In the statement, they explained, “We respect our customers’ privacy and cannot discuss specific customer details or cases,”.

Precious Mensah, popularly known as PM, emerged winner fo the Accra-based Atinka TV’s plus size women reality show, Di Asa.

PM was to fly out with the first and second runners-up of the competition to Dubai. She was however disallowed from boarding the Emirates flight to Dubai, because of her size.

According to the organisers of the show, PM could not fit in two seats even after they purchased them for her and hence they tried to purchase an additional seat, but there was none available.

They, however, hope to have the issue resolved by Friday, November 22.
