The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, has declared that the authentic faith modelled by the Biblical patriarchs provides a powerful blueprint for national development.
He made the statement during the Watch Night Service at Cedar Mountain Chapel to usher in the New Year.
Drawing lessons from the life of Abraham, described as the father of faith, Rev. Wengam urged Christians to embrace a bold and radical belief system coupled with godly living.

He emphasized that such authentic faith would cultivate a citizenry marked by patriotism, integrity, and positive work ethics.
“This will translate into sustainable economic development for the country,” Rev. Wengam stated. He expressed concern over what he termed a transactional approach to faith, where some seek God only for personal gain without commitment to holy and righteous living. “This was not the kind of Christian faith bequeathed to us,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, the clergyman expressed optimism for 2026, forecasting that despite potential challenges, the year would bring “greater prosperity and favour” for Ghana.
Rev. Wengam disclosed that all Assemblies of God churches nationwide will observe a week-long fasting and prayer session from Monday, January 6th, to Sunday, January 11th.

The spiritual exercise is aimed at interceding for both the church and the nation.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including H.E. David Kabre, the Burkinabe Ambassador to Ghana.
