A Kotoko fan has been shot in Kumasi by the Police after a fight broke out at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
The supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko is reported to be battling for his life after he was allegedly hit by a stray ‘rubber’ bullet from Police officers who were trying to control the situation after some disgruntled fans attacked security personnel at the stadium.
According to reports, Kotoko fans were not pleased with the officiating of the referees of the match against Berekum Chelsea.
The fans started throwing bottles and sachets of water onto the field. This halted the game for several minutes towards the end.
After the match, referee, Charles Bulu and his assistant had to be heavily guarded before being able to leave the pitch.
In an attempt to control the crowd, the police fired shots and one unlucky fan was caught by a stray bullet causing him to bleed profusely from his stomach.
The fan was reported to have died after the incident but Kotoko management member, Nana Kwame Dankwah has refuted the claims stating that the fan is receiving treatment at the emergency unit of komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
