The Food and Drugs Authority has directed for the recall of all batches of certain brands of tomato paste from the Ghanaian market.
In a statement sighted by JiveGH released by the Authority, these food products contain starch and colour (erythrosine), which were not indicated on their labels.
Again, these products do not conform to the Ghana Standard for Tomato Paste (GS 246:2013) and contravene the labelling law.
The tomato brands numbering 16, are;
- Alyssa Tomato Paste,
- Snow Red Tomato Paste,
- Daily Double Concentrated Tomato Paste,
- Aicha Tomato Paste,
- Shalom Tomato Paste,
- Mama and Papa Tomato Paste,
- Juliet Tomato Paste,
- Star Time Tomato Paste Prestige Tomato Paste,
- Roi Lion Double Concentrated Tomato Past,
- Green Garden Tomato Paste,
- Rococo Tomato Paste
- Nana Tomato Paste
- Tasty Family Tomato Paste
- Ma Bravo Tomato Paste
The FDA, therefore, calls on all retailers and consumers of the above-listed products to return them to the importers with immediate effect.
