Finance Minister to present 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review on July 23

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson will present the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 23, Deputy Majority Leader Kweku Ricketts-Hagan confirmed on Tuesday.

The announcement was made during the presentation of the Business Statement for the upcoming parliamentary week.

Ricketts-Hagan clarified that while the date is firm, the specific format of the presentation, whether a full statement or otherwise, remains at the discretion of the Finance Minister.

“I cannot pre-empt that,” Ricketts-Hagan stated on the floor of the House.

The review is expected to serve as a critical barometer for Ghana’s economic health, offering an update on the implementation of the 2026 Budget and outlining fiscal policy adjustments for the second half of the year.

The presentation follows scheduled Cabinet meetings and a briefing by the Minister to President John Dramani Mahama.

Beyond assessing first-half performance, the government is expected to use the platform to signal a shift from pure economic stabilisation toward a growth-driven agenda.

Key focal points are anticipated to include job creation, productivity boosts, and enhanced economic resilience, all while maintaining fiscal discipline under current reforms.

A major highlight of the presentation will likely be an update on Ghana’s partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

This includes the finalisation of the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) programme and the transition to the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI), which will guide the country’s macroeconomic framework post-bailout.
