First Lady gets traditional title after commissioning health facility in Oti Region

The First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has been enstooled as the Nkosuohemaa (Development Queenmother) of the Akroso Asukawkaw Traditional Area.

She was given the stool name Nana Oseadeeyo Odamewaa II by the Paramount Chief, Nana Odam Gyamfi III.

The honour was conferred on Saturday during the commissioning of a new maternal and child health ward built by her NGO, the Lordina Foundation.

The Paramount Chief stated the title was in recognition of her efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

The facility, which was requested by the chief in March, includes a maternity ward, a children’s ward, an operating theatre, and a neonatal intensive care unit, equipped with solar power and essential medical equipment.

In her response, Mrs. Mahama noted that the Asukawkaw facility is the fourth modern health centre completed by the Foundation, with previous projects in Bole, Nkoranza, and Bodom.

She reiterated the Foundation’s mission to ensure safe childbirth and accessible primary healthcare for women, children, and the elderly, acknowledging the support of partners like OAFLAD and the Meck Foundation.
