Floods destroy over GHC25 million worth of goods at Tema warehouse – CEO laments

By News1

The Chief Executive Officer of Three Dreamers, Bismark Offei Ansah, has revealed that goods worth more than GHC25 million were destroyed when floodwaters swept through his warehouse along the Tema Motorway during last Monday’s heavy rains.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Ansah described the rainfall as the heaviest since 2018, noting that it overwhelmed drainage systems and caused severe flooding in the area.

According to him, water from the motorway underbridge broke through a wall of a neighbouring company before cascading into his warehouse.

The force of the flood destroyed parts of the facility and washed away large quantities of goods, including foodstuffs, toiletries, and electrical appliances.

Mr. Ansah said he instructed his workers to stay away from the floodwaters, prioritising their safety over the recovery of goods.

He also noted that some members of the public rushed to collect items swept away by the water.

“We have lost a lot. Our goods worth over GH¢25 million have all gone to waste, apart from machines that were also damaged,” he said. “We thank God that no life was lost. We could not risk lives for material things.”

He added that representatives from the Church of Pentecost and his local Member of Parliament had visited the scene to assess the damage.
