A showbiz critic, Kwame Agyemang Berko popularly known as Kwame Rasta has an interesting advice for Rev. Abraham Lamptey.
The head pastor of Believer’s House of Worship earlier this week had suggested that organizers of awards schemes leave nominations and winners of gospel categories to pastors or the church to decide.
Responding to the preacher’s comment, Kwame Rasta told Rev. Lamptey that he should gather offerings he takes in his church and create an awards scheme if he disagrees with the current status quo.
‘The offerings they collect every Sunday, if they can project a 10-year period or 3 weeks, or five years, whatever it is, once they institute the awards scheme, I am sure the musicians will be happy, excited that this is ours.’, he said.

Rev. Lamptey had argued that for the right choices to be made, the responsibility should be handed over to churches and pastors since gospel music is solely a Christian activity.
”You bring your nomination list, give it to some pastors you can trust and let them select whoever they think has spoken about Christ in the gospel and let them get back to you with their winners,” the pastor said.
The debate started after a discussion commenced on what gospel music entails.
Some argued that only content determines what can be classified as gospel music.
Meanwhile others feel that this argument is flawed because an unbeliever who sings about Jesus Christ should not have his or her song considered as gospel.
Also, some critics opined that one should not be considered as a gospel artiste even if one sings about Jesus Christ or salvation.
