Ghana is awaiting the results of 15,384 people who have been tested for coronavirus.

These people were tested as part of enhanced measures by contact tracing and testing in affected communities.

Addressing the nation on March 5, President Akufo-Addo said that these people were among some 19,276 who were reached through contact tracing of persons who had tested positive for the virus.

He added that the outcome of the tests will determine the fate of the country in the fight against the coronavirus.

“We are thus about to enter a critical phase of our fight in the coming week…it is the results of these tests that will determine our future course of action.”

“Government’s policies and measures will continue to be driven by the science in this matter,” President Akufo-Addo stated.

The president added that the decision to extend or call off the lockdown will be taken in the course of the week as government continues to assess the situation.

Ghana has confirmed 214 cases of coronavirus with five deaths and 3 recoveries.

About 925 of the 1,030 people who were mandatorily quarantined tested negative on two occasions.
