Ghana has once again failed to gain nominations for the Grammy Awards, with many Ghanaian artistes left wondering how they could attain the heights of their Nigeria counterparts who got most of the African nominations.
Dancehall champion Shatta Wale submitted “Street Crown” for consideration in the Best African Music Performance Category as Reggae artist Epixode submitted his “Choobi” record and the 2023 Artiste of the year, Black Sherif submitted his hit track “So It Goes”.
But the Ghanaian artistes, after successfully passing through the first round of screenings, unfortunately couldn’t make it to the nomination list for the various categories, trailing the dominant Nigerian artistes.
Burna Boy, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr, Tyla, and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo were the key nominees from Africa.
There were nominations for Kendrick Lamar (garnering nine nominations), Lady Gaga and the producers Cirkut, and Jack Antonoff, holding seven nominations each and Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter and Leon Thomas, getting six nominations each.
The 68th Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 1, 2026 in Los Angeles in the United States.
