Ghana Medical Association petitions President Akufo-Addo to maintain ban on social gatherings

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has in a press release signed by its president, petitioned the President of the republic to maintain the ban on social gatherings.

According to the GMA, a look at the number of new COVID-19 positive cases in the country and the seeming disregard for most of the preventive measures, it is imperative for the country to maintain the ban on social gatherings amongst other things.

They said: “His Excellency the President of the Republic should not lift the ban on social gatherings for religious activities, schools, marriage ceremonies, funerals etc. Our international borders should also remain closed for now.”

His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to address the nation any moment from now to announce new measures or otherwise in the fight to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
