The Accra Regional Headquarters has rejected a petition presented to it by the Coalition of Aggrieved Menzgold Customers, to go on a demonstration to present their petition to the president.
The group made up of customers of the defunct gold trading company, Menzgold, have had their investments locked up in the company since its closure nearly two years ago.
In a letter dated February 10th,2020, sighted by JiveGH.com, the regional police outlines reasons for refusing to allow the group embark on the said demonstration.
According to them, the police force is currently focused on fighting crime and other forms of violence and hence cannot accept any form of picketing, demonstrations or walks within this period.
Again, it says, the group (Coalition of Aggrieved Menzgold Customers) demonstrated on the same matter, less than six months ago, and hence will not tolerate any other demonstrations, to allow other citizens have their interests served by the police force.
