The Ghana Premier League has been cancelled after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) decided not to continue the 2019/20 football season as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision was announced on Tuesday evening following a marathon meeting by the Executive Council led by President Kurt Okraku.
The Ghana Premier League is not the only competition cancelled as Women’s Premier League, Division One League and FA Cup have all been affected by the decision.
The league was suspended in mid-March following a ban on public gatherings by the government due to the spread of the virus.
GFA had planned to resume the league as they submitted a proposal to governments Covid-19 team in May.
But the proposal which included regular testing of players and teams training in small groups was rejected.
