Prominent Ghanaian filmmaker Samuel ‘Blitz’ Bazawule is set to work on another major international project.
The director who is popularly known as Blitz the Ambassador, will direct Warner Bros’ musical film ‘The Colour Purple’.
This film is based on the Tony-winning Broadway musical.
Jazz, ragtime, gospel, blues and African rhythms will feature in ‘The Colour Purple’.
This new feat comes shortly after Bazawule co-directed Beyoncé’s ‘Black Is King’ visual album.
The Ghanaian also wrote and directed the award-winning 2018 film, ‘The Burial of Kojo’ which premiered on Netflix.
Blitz the Ambassador is the founder of Africa Film Society, an organisation focused on the preservation and distribution of classic African cinema.
