GJA President supports over 500 households at Christmas

Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has led a Christmas outreach that brought relief to more than 500 households in Accra.

The outreach, dubbed “Sharing of Love,” covered Alajo, Kotobabi Down and Newtown Down and formed part of activities marking the Christmas season.

Beneficiary households received assorted items, including rice, cooking oil, mackerel and tomato paste, to ease their burden during the festive period.

Addressing residents, Mr Dwumfuor described Christmas as a season of giving, rooted in Christian values and exemplified by God’s gift of His only begotten Son.

“Christmas is about giving, and giving comes from love. When we show love to the needy and vulnerable, we are living out the essence of Christ’s birth,” he said.

Mr Dwumfuor, who said he was born and raised in Alajo, explained that the outreach was a way of giving back to the community that nurtured him.

He reflected on his journey from the area to becoming GJA President as a testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness, adding that true success was measured by the ability to positively impact others.

Mr Dwumfuor urged residents to live in unity, show love to one another and reflect on the birth of Christ, expressing hope for growth and development in the community in the coming years.

Mr Dwumfuor also pledged support for the community, including assistance towards the construction of a modern lorry station and a public toilet to ease the burden on residents. The “Sharing of Love” initiative formed part of efforts by Mr Dwumfuor and the GJA to promote social responsibility during festive seasons by supporting vulnerable communities.

Nii Armah Ajoor II, Chief of Alajo, expressed gratitude to the GJA President for remembering his roots and bringing joy to the elderly, widows and widowers in the community.

He assured residents of his commitment to spearhead development in the area and urged them to support initiatives aimed at improving the community.

The Chief also appealed to Mr Dwumfuor to support future development projects undertaken by the community.
