Ghana’s Armwrestling team, Golden Arms delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 World Armwrestling Championship, walking away with two silver medals and a bronze medal.
Facing some of the world’s strongest contenders in Albena, Bulgaria, the team, represented by Mabel Yeboah, Blessed Abeka Nunoo and Daniel Acquah showcased much technique and determination to make a statement at the international stage.
Prisons Officer Mabel Yeboah exhibited an impressive performance in the youth women 60kg category, clinching silver in the left arm event and bronze in the right arm event.
On the other hand, Blessed Abeka Nunoo of the Ghana Immigration Service also made history by securing silver in the right arm event of the same weight category in the Juniors division.
Daniel Acquah, also representing the Ghana Prisons Service, delivered a strong performance in his debut appearance at the World Championship, giving his opponents a tough challenge in the men’s 65kg category.
Despite his impressive run, he narrowly missed out on a podium finish after slipping in the final stage.
The young prodigy had earlier made headlines, emerging champion at the just-ended Africa Armwrestling Championship in Nigeria, raising high hopes for his world debut.
The achievements of the three pullers cements Ghana’s status as a leading force in Africa.
Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, in an interview with the GNA Sports, commended the team for their outstanding effort.
He attributed the team’s success to consistent training and the unwavering determination displayed by the athletes.
