Gomashie initiates construction of six-unit classroom block for Avoeme Basic school

Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu South Constituency in the Volta Region, has initiated the construction of a six-unit classroom block at Avoeme Basic School in Aflao.

The project, when completed, would create a conducive environment to improve teaching and learning in the area.

Mr. Nicholas Worklachie, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ketu South, on behalf of the MP, officially handed over contract documents to the contractor.

He said the move marked the commencement of site preparation for the construction of the classroom block.

“The official sod-cutting ceremony to mark the full commencement of construction will be performed by our MP, Abla Dzifa Gomashie in the coming days,” he said.

He explained that the project would be fully funded by Dzifa Gomashie through her share of the MPs Common Fund, to help uplift the standard of the school as well as improve the progress of education in the area.

He said that the construction of the six-unit classroom block was expected to significantly improve the learning environment and enhance access to quality education for pupils at the Avoeme Basic School to provide a conducive learning environment which was essential for the academic success of the pupils.

“The project is expected to be completed within nine months. The contractor has been urged to work diligently to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated time frame,” Mr. Worlachie said.

He said that the project had received support from various stakeholders, including the Municipal Assembly, the education directorate, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and the collaboration was considered crucial to the success of the project.

He noted that the construction of the classroom block when completed would have a positive and significant impact on the community to create a better learning environment to enhance teaching and learning.

The team of constructors led by Ketu South Municipal Engineer, Mr. Kingsley Oduro, who was tasked to oversee the project, promised to work within the stipulated period to enable solve the pressing accommodation challenges within the school.

Some staff, PTA and SMC members among others Ghana News Agency, engaged expressed joy over the project and promised to support the initiative to benefit the young learners.
