The government of Ghana has announced that it will absorb water bills for all Ghanaians for three months.

Residents in Ghana will not pay water tariffs for April, May, and June 2020.

This was announced by President Akufo-Addo in his televised address to the nation on April 5, 2020 as part of measures to keep people at home while the country combats coronavirus.

The president also added that water tankers will mobilize water to residents who do not have constant supply of water.

“All water tankers, publicly and privately-owned, are also going to be mobilised to ensure the supply of water to all vulnerable communities,” he said.

Ghana’s confirmed cases of coronavirus currently stand at 214 as at April 5, 2020.

Five of the patients have lost their lives after contracting the virus.

Three coronavirus patients have fully recovered out of the total number of cases.
