GPL Wrap: Hearts of Oak lose in Accra as Kotoko win

Enoch Fiifi Forson

Hearts of Oak fans were left disappointed on the opening day of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season after their side fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Berekum Chelsea on Sunday.

The Phobians looked powerless as the Blues secured their first win against them at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The defeat follows last weekend’s President Cup loss to Asante Kotoko. This has left fans calling for the sack of head coach Kim Grant.

In Kumasi, Asante Kotoko pipped visiting Techiman Eleven Wonders by a lone goal, while visiting Medeama SC proved too much of a match for Mysterious Dwarfs in Cape Coast.

Dreams FC, Aduana Stars and Ashantigold FC were the big winners on Day One, with Dreams and Aduana bagging 4 goals each at home, while Ashantigold beat Great Olympics 3-0 in Obuasi.
