GTA CEO honoured at Ghana Women of Excellence Awards

Mrs Maame Efua Houadjeto, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has been honoured with the Ghana Women of Excellence Gold Award.

The award was presented at the 11th Ghana Women of Excellence Awards held at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel, Accra to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2026.

The ceremony brought together distinguished personalities, leaders, and women’s empowerment advocates to recognise women making notable contributions to national development.

Mrs Houadjeto received the award in the Corporate Communications category for her outstanding contribution to Ghana’s social and economic development, particularly through her leadership and strategic communication within the tourism sector.

Her recognition reflected commitment to strengthening institutional communication, promoting Ghana’s tourism brand, and advancing initiatives aimed at positioning the country as a preferred destination.

Mrs Houadjeto, commenting on the honour, said she was “deeply honoured and grateful to the organisers of the Ghana Women of Excellence Awards for this recognition.”

“I dedicate this award to the hardworking management and staff of the Ghana Tourism Authority whose dedication continues to inspire our work.

“On this occasion of IWD, I celebrate all Ghanaian women who continue to break barriers, lead with courage, and contribute meaningfully to the development of our nation. Together, we will keep empowering one another to build a stronger and more prosperous Ghana,” she said.
