GTA climaxes National Chocolate Day with donation to police cells in Western North

The Western North Regional branch of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has climaxed this year’s National Chocolate Day celebrations with a donation to inmates of Sefwi Bekwai, Wiawso, and Bibiani police cells.

The items donated included, bars of chocolate, drinks, and sachet water. Officers at the three police district cells also received a bar of chocolate each.

Mr. Michael Kpingbi, Western North Regional Director of GTA, said tourism was everyone’s business and the Authority cared about everyone, hence the donation.

He explained that promoting local products like chocolate, which has high nutritional value, would contribute to the country’s economic growth and encouraged people to derive health benefits from consuming it.

The theme for this year’s celebration, “Eat chocolate, stay Healthy, and Grow Ghana, Experience and Share the cocoa Love”, underscored the importance of cocoa products in our daily lives, Mr. Kpingbi said.

He encouraged Ghanaians to make consuming cocoa products, especially chocolate, a habit beyond Chocolate Day for better health and economic growth.

Police personnel on duty expressed gratitude to GTA for the donation, saying it brought smiles to the inmates’ faces and reminded them that the state cared about them.

The gesture was seen to promote the consumption of local cocoa products and support the economic growth of the country.

GTA’s efforts to promote local cocoa products are in line with the government’s initiative to boost the cocoa sector and improve upon the livelihoods of cocoa farmers, Mr. Kpingbi added.
