GWCL to extend potable water supply to Wetakope, says MP

Mr Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu, has announced plans to extend potable water supply to Wetakope in the Agorta Electoral Area of the South Tongu District.

The intervention follows concerns raised by residents over inadequate access to potable water in the community.

Mr Lukutor said his office directed the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), in collaboration with the South Tongu District Assembly Works Department, to undertake a technical assessment to determine the requirements for extending the existing water supply network to Wetakope.

He said the assessment had been successfully completed, and approval had been given for the commencement of the necessary works by the GWCL to facilitate the extension of potable water supply to the community.

The MP commended the Assembly Member for the area, Mr Sylvester Woyome, the Agorta branch executives and residents of Wetakope for their cooperation and support throughout the process.

Mr Lukutor said access to potable water remained critical to improving living conditions and promoting the wellbeing of residents and pledged to continue pursuing practical interventions to address the basic needs of communities within the constituency.

“One community at a time, we will continue to address the basic needs of our people. I remain hopeful that, through sustained efforts and collaboration, every community in the South Tongu Constituency will have access to quality and potable water,” he said.

Mr Lukutor reiterated his commitment to working with relevant institutions and stakeholders to advance development across South Tongu Constituency.
