The Keta Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region is set to organise this year’s Farmers’ Day celebration at Hatorgodo on November 27, 2025.
The event is to recognise and appreciate efforts of hardworking farmers within the Municipality.
Mr Godwin Tettey, the Agriculture Director at Keta, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, urged all farmers and residents in the area to participate fully and celebrate, empower and encourage the gallant farmers in the municipality.
“There is a directive for all the districts within the region to celebrate their farmers day ahead of the main national event that will be hosted here in the Volta to pave the way for all of us to participate fully,” he said.
Mr Tettey said that all districts in the Volta Region were expected to support the regional executives in hosting a memorable national event, which is the main reason for hosting the event in districts across the region ahead of the main celebration.
He explained that this year’s event promised to be a memorable one with the assembly set to honour best farmers in various farming categories in the municipality with certificates for the hard work and dedication.
Mr Tettey emphasised that farmers were important to the local economy, adding that “Our farmers are the backbone of our communities’ economy and it is only befitting that we recognise their contributions and motivate them as well.”
He said that the Keta Municipal Farmers’ Day celebration would be part of the National Farmers’ Day festivities with the national event taking place on Friday, December 5 in Ho.
Mr Tettey said the assembly had put in place arrangements to ensure a successful celebration themed: “Celebrating Our Farmers, Sustaining Our Future.”
The Director of Agriculture said the celebration would feature cultural performances, exhibitions, and presentations, allowing farmers to showcase their produce and interact with other stakeholders to boost their businesses.
He called on all residents, including philanthropists, corporate organisations and individuals, among others to join hands to celebrate and acknowledge farmers for their efforts in ensuring food security in the municipality.
