News reaching JiveGH.com indicates that assembly member aspirant for Adukrom Nima electoral area in the Ashanti region, Nana Adabor Ibrahim Issah Ampim, popularly known as Hon. Aponkye has lost the election and has called for a re-run.

The election took place on Tuesday 17th December and Hon. Aponkye pulled just 9% of the total votes while Hon. Abdul Rashid won the election with majority votes.

In a letter signed by the secretary of the Great Aponkye Movement, Fareed Ibrahim, Hon. Aponkye and his team have refused to accept the results and have implored the electoral commission to organise another election.

According to the Great Aponkye Movement, some opposition members disguised as members of his team shared food in the morning to constituents which caused them to fall asleep hence the low turn out at the polling station.

They added that it was a deliberate attempt from his opposition to prevent his fans and target voters from casting their votes.

They further stated that if their petition is not heeded then they will have no other choice but to seek legal action.
