This past weekend is one Ghanaians will not forget very easily. From the romantic escapades of the National security minister, to the alleged break up of celebrity couple, Fella Makafui and Medikal, to internet sensation Bosom PYung who released ‘Ataa Adwoa’, the weekend was just rightly packed.
Well, the two ‘Afias’ at the top of the Ghanaian entertainment ladder would not allow themselves to be left out of all the fun.
Efia Odo, formerly of Kwese TV and songstress Sista Afia had a go at each other, sending twitter up in a frenzy, whilst they threw jabs at each other for various reaosns.
It all started when Efia Odo uploaded a video on Instagram attacking people who criticised her sense of fashion and called them fools and hypocrites.
Stating in the video, Efia said; “No matter what you guys say about me, no matter how many names you call me, I don’t care. I know who I am. The way I dress does not define who I am. My clothes don’t define me. I can dress as far as classy fuck and can be a whore. Ghanaians are fools. You guys are looking at me and calling me all sort of names and you go to church on Sunday and ask the Lord to bless your soul. You are hypocrites!
Now, this rant targeted at us Ghanaians, did not go down with Sista Afia at all.
According to her, Efia’s rants are useless since she always claims she is unfazed by the things people say about her and the names they call her. She said recording a video was a waste of resources in response to something she claims not to care about.
Sista Afia wrote;
“How do you say you don’t care what people say about you, but you come on social media and address what has been said about you. Face it. You care!” the musician tweeted, attracting a reply from the TV personality as she said: “Emelia Brobbey even blow pass you, focus on your music madame hippo.”
You think Efia Odo will let this slide? She had to hit back and that she did.
At this point, what started as a video of Efia’s opinion had blown out into a full blown Twitter banter and the ladies were only getting started.
Sista Afia, in her bid to counter Efia Odo’s mockery of her music, immediately, uploaded a video clip which showed Efia dancing to her song ‘Weather’. She captioned it, “Sexy Skeleton got some dancing moves. Like @cabumonline will say, #Weather issa banger, like Abanga”
This Efia responded to saying “If they’re playing your song on national TV, should I sit and pretend like I don’t like it, and look like a hater? Nah boo. I ain’t a hater. You got two or three nice songs I fuck with, like I said I ain’t gotta fuck with you to like your music, no cap.”
She further stated, “I can like your song and not give a fuck about you. Soo many times I’ve gone on live and purposely played your song like ‘weather’. You stayyyy coming for me and I ain’t even call you. Fella and I had an issue, you jumped in. I made a video yesterday, you jumped in. You went on 4syte.”
Now at this point the ladies were ready to trash out their differences and find common ground.
Interestingly, Sista Afia who was body-shamed was quick to accept the apology rendered by Efia Odo and also apologized to Efia as well. She was however quick to add, Efia had to tell her fans not to refer to her as a ‘hippo’ anymore
“I apologize too if I’ve also offended you. I mean it’s all love. Please don’t let your fans call me “Hippo” again or I will release a whole EP titled sexy skeleton.”
Efia gladly accepted to do that and humorously asked her fans to stop calling Afia hippo, but she, didn’t mind the skeleton name.
At the end of the day, the peace pipe was smoked and both ladies laughed and joked about the entire conversation.
