Former signee of now Zylofon Media and Highlife singer, Kumi Guitar has revealed the frustration of being a celeb whose finances did not corroborate his celebrity status.

Kumi Guitar is one of the few celebrities who paints a true picture of the difficulties he goes through as an artist who is yet to hit the mainstream music scene after being in the industry for over 15 years.

Speaking in an interview, the artist said the impression that popular people are wealthy is an erroneous one and the situation on the ground is a lot different from the perception they hold.

The ‘Betweener’ hitmaker said, aside from the negative perception, he has also had to deal with stories propagated about his brand.

In the interview he said; “People see you and think all is well with you because you are popular but the truth is that it is not easy. There have been many times that I have been devastated and hurt about stories and even comments about my person that I know weren’t true.”

He went on to say; “However, it is difficult to stop them because you are a popular figure and everyone feels they have a stake in your life. It can be really frustrating but this is what we have signed ourselves up for so you need to brace yourself and move forward when it happens.”
