‘I am saddened with the direction of highlife music’ – AB Crentsil

Veteran highlife artiste AB Crentsil has expressed his disappointment with the current trend artistes have taken the Highlife music.

Speaking on DriveTime on Joy FM, the artiste explained that a lot of foreign genres are getting mixed with the highlife sound making it adultered adding it is “not great.”

“You can clearly listen to a song being played on a funky rhythm but the person is singling highlife. You can’t determine the kind of Highlife they are trying to put out there. I am disturbed about this,” he said.

According to AB Crentsil, these new trends are killing the genre and true highlife music is not as popular as before.

“That’s what is happening now and I am sad about it,” he added.

In his opinion, Kofi Kinaata is the only artiste keeping the flame of the genre burning.

“Now I listen to Kofi Kinaata and he is doing well and bringing back the highlife which is getting lost into the system,” he said.
