2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) ‘Artiste of the Year’, E.L, says he got depressed after winning the award.
Critics took on the artiste for failing to live up to expectations after winning the ultimate award.
Some criticized the singer and rapper for lacking a clear direction regarding his music.
According to the ‘Koko’ hit maker, he traveled to the U.S to avoid the pressure on him in Ghana.
”I know a lot of artistes get to this point where they get depressed….I left the country…I was in the States (U.S) for almost a year”, he revealed.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, E.L said winning ‘Artiste of the Year’ is not exciting as many think.
”…It is not as exciting as they thought it will be. The feeling is not what they expected. When I won ‘Artiste of the Year’ I went home and slept’, he said.
He also revealed that he had a hard time making his brand visible on the internet because his stage name is made up of just two letters.
E.L is currently promoting ‘Linkop’, a joint E.P he recorded with singer A.I.
