An old friend of Ghanaian artist Obrafour, Yaw Labito, has expressed his hurt and pain over having to live in Obrafour’s shadow all this while.
Yaw Labito has revealed, he sang the chorus of Obrafour’s Odo song and has since not received the recognition he deserves from Obrafour.
He said he has been refused his shine since Obrafour refused to even feature him in the video of the said song.
Speaking in an interview, Yaw Labito says, “We recorded ‘Odo’ and the song became an instant hit. We went behind Achimota forest to shoot the video for the song”.
“When it got to my part of the song, the director asked Obrafour to let me sing my part of the, but to my surprise, he told the director in my presence that the video will be used for a documentary,” he said.
Further describing his hurt, Yaw said, “I felt bad but told people who asked why I wasn’t featured in the video that I had travelled during the shoot”.
According to Yaw, Obrafour reached out to him to help with his ‘Back to Taifa’ concert, held in October this year. This he obliged to and showed up to perform and support his friend.
Hoping the neglect was over, Yaw says he was surprised Obrafour did not reach out to him for the ‘Pae Mu Ka’ concert, though he (Yaw) tried to.
He recalled, during the concert, he was substituted and his part was sung by highlife musician Bisa Kdei.
Recounting what happened, he said, he tried to reach out to Obrafuor before the concert but could not get hold of him as he was granting an interview on radio.
All attempts after that proved futile also and Obrafour never reached out to him also.
