I started the Dancehall movement in Ghana – Iwan brags

Alex Amankwa

Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Iwan has made an audacious claim that he begun the Dancehall movement in Ghana, stating that it was a calling from God Almighty.

The “lyrical gunshot” in an interview with Amansan Krakye of Radio Central fame stated that even though he was the pioneer of the genre, he had to slow down so that others could shine.

He added that he is not jealous of those making waves currently like Stonebwouy, Shatta Wale and the others because no one can reign forever and that is just how life works.

Iwan many years ago was a real force to reckon with in the Dancehall industry and became a household name in 2008 when he released his song titled “Who’s bad”.

Unfortunately, he could not keep up and blamed other artistes like Samini and his former manager, Bulldog for his failure.

According to Iwan, Bulldog denied him the chance to perform at Samini’s ‘MOVADO’ concert which took place at Accra Sports Stadium in October, 2011.
