I stayed off radio and TV when I was coaching Black Stars – Kwesi Appiah

Kwesi Appiah says he was forced to stay off radio and television during his time as head coach of the senior national team, Black Stars.

According to him, the move was to enable him focus on the job and avoid hearing or watching media practitioners report false stories about the national team.

The 59-year-old’s two-and-half-year contract expired last month with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) deciding against offering him a new deal.

CK Akonnor has been named as his replacement.

“I decided not to watch television and listen to the radio when I was coaching the Black Stars to enable me to concentrate on the job,” Appiah revealed.

He made the revelation in Sunyani last Tuesday at the launch of his memoir entitled: “Leaders Don’t Have to Yell.”

The first copy of the memoir has been sold for GH¢10,000.
