The Community Vulnerable Children Organisation (CVCO), on behalf of the Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health (GCNH), has presented essential health logistics to the Central Tongu District Health Directorate to support healthcare delivery in the area.
The items included 10 thermometers, two hanging weighing scales, two stand-on weighing scales with integrated height measurement, and a blood pressure apparatus.
Mr Gustav Boni, the Executive Director of CVCO, said the donation formed part of CVCO’s commitment, under the GCNH framework, to strengthen primary healthcare delivery, particularly at the district and community levels.
He explained that the intervention was informed by identified gaps in basic health logistic which were critical for routine screening, disease prevention and effective monitoring of maternal and child health indicators.
Mr Boni noted that access to simple but essential equipment, such as weighing scales, thermometers and blood pressure apparatus, could significantly improve early detection of health challenges and enhance the quality of care provided to vulnerable populations.
He assured the Directorate of CVCO and GCNH’s readiness to continue collaborating with health authorities and other stakeholders to promote equitable access to quality healthcare services across the district.
Mr Baba Awuni, the Central Tongu District Director of Health, who received the items, expressed gratitude to CVCO and GCNH for the gesture, describing it as timely and beneficial to frontline health service delivery.
Mr Awuni said the logistics would strengthen routine health monitoring and service provision across health facilities in the district, particularly in maternal and child health services.
He assured the donors that the Directorate, together with key officers, would ensure the equipment was put to effective and judicious use for the benefit of residents.
Mama Keketi III, the District Nutritionist, also expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that the weighing scales and related equipment would significantly enhance nutrition assessment and monitoring, especially among vulnerable groups.
She commended CVCO and GCNH for their support for community health initiatives and called for sustained partnerships to improve health outcomes in the district.
