Jospong Group partners diaspora scholars for growth

By News1

The Jospong Group has entered into a strategic partnership with the Ghanaian Scholars in the Diaspora (GSD) to harness global Ghanaian talent for national progress.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today in Accra formally bridges Ghana’s leading conglomerate with postgraduate scholars across the US, Germany, Japan, South Korea, India, Hungary, and China.

The collaboration aims to directly channel cutting-edge research and innovation from diaspora students into the Jospong Group’s wide-ranging operations, spanning over 60 companies, to fuel tangible socio-economic growth in Ghana.

Executive Chairman of Jospong Group, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, signed the MoU alongside leaders of the seven GSD country associations.

He framed the initiative as a patriotic venture that transcends corporate interest.

“This is for Ghana,” Dr. Siaw Agyepong declared after the ceremony.

He announced the creation of a dedicated office with an independently employed Coordinator and Administrator to oversee the partnership.

“Jospong will not manage them, but only sponsor and facilitate their work,” he clarified.

Envisioning the partnership as a future “national platform,” Dr. Siaw Agyepong revealed plans to engage major business leaders, including Ibrahim Mahama, Kasapreko, and Despite, to ensure its sustainability and expansion.

He called on the scholars to commit deeply to the cause.

“I urge you to invest your knowledge for the betterment of Ghana,” he stated.

President of the Ghanaian Students Association in Hungary and Secretary of GSD, Mr. Peter Worlasi Adanu, expressed profound gratitude for the initiative.

“We are very excited by this significant step and pledge our full commitment to ensuring the objectives of this MoU are met for the positive transformation of Ghana,” Mr. Adanu said.

He extended a call for broader support, especially from the government, to help the initiative achieve its full potential.

Chief Operating Officer of Jospong’s Environmental Service Cluster, Mrs. Florence Larbi, welcomed the scholars by tracing the Group’s journey from a small printing press in 1995 to a diversified multinational.

“True growth comes from purpose and innovation, not just profit,” she told the assembly of Master’s and PhD students.

Mrs. Larbi revealed that the partnership was inspired by Dr. Siaw Agyepong’s visit to Japan, where he observed students engaged in hands-on, multidisciplinary training.

“He expressed a strong desire to connect with people who could bring him closer to this vision,” she shared.
With the Group active in nearly every sector, Mrs. Larbi challenged the scholars to align their research with real-world impact.

“Every idea should aim to solve a problem or create a new product or service, something we can scale,” she urged, emphasizing the Group’s focus on turning research into practical value.

She concluded by thanking the scholars for their dedication.

“This is not an ordinary time; many would be with family. Yet, you’ve set this time aside for Ghana.”

The partnership establishes a structured pipeline for diaspora scholars to contribute research, innovation, and expertise directly to Ghana’s industrial and developmental agenda, marking a new chapter in public-private-academic collaboration for the country.
