Afro-pop singer and songwriter, Noella Wiyaala, wants her critics to shut up and just enjoy her ‘good music’.
Earlier, she got furious and warned bloggers and showbiz critics not to talk about her on their shows.
Her comment came after claim by music producer, JMJ, that the female music scene has been ‘dead’ since the absence of Kaakie, MzVee and the death of Ebony Reigns.
The producer added that, “we can hardly see any female in that same light as them. Shouts to Wiyaala who is doing well out the, she could be an exception but the rest are still not there yet for me”
Speaking in an recent interview with Ghanaweb, Wiyaala said people who don’t encourage artists to do better are in no position to criticize their craft.
“Why don’t you just shut up and enjoy the good music. Because when you don’t support, you’re killing talents and re-directing them into things that are not really their wish. When you do that you make us angry and when we are angry, we are forced to join politics and insult people,” she established.
The singer also said that it is difficult to become a successful musician in Ghana due to the numerous challenges.
“Ghanaians have adopted the culture of criticisms. Everybody has an opinion. It’s disturbing. It is very very difficult to be a successful musician in Ghana. Everybody will have their opinion about you and if you’re not strong you will hide. The noise and the bashing Is just too much. Especially with the Female musicians, most of us are a bit emotional and shy so the least insult gets to us. Ghanaians do not encourage each other,” she stated.
Wiyaala also stressed that she is focused on producing good music and not just trendy songs for awards.
