It was a rare touching moment to see children and young adults with special needs children mounting the stage to put their artistic talents on full display.
The occasion was the first-anniversary celebration as well as the end-of-year party of Klicks Africa Foundation, an Accra-based NGO working to promote inclusiveness and equality for people with Autism and intellectual disabilities.
As the children happily sang Christmas carols and staged a short play to tell the story of the birth of Christ, their parents and the gathering supportive well-wishers applauded and cheered.
Motivational speaker and TV host, Obuobiba Darko-Opoku commended the parents for their courage in defying societal stigmatization and their efforts to give of their best for the upkeep and well-being of their special needs children.
She advised parents with children with intellectual disabilities to take pride in their kids, knowing that they are special gifts from God.
The executive director of Klicks Africa Foundation, Mrs Mary Kufuor, urged the parents to continue to support each other and meet often to share their experiences about taking care of children with special needs.
They say a picture speaks a thousand words. The pictures below show both children and adults had a wonderful time.
