Kofi Kinaata’s 2019 banger ‘Things Fall Apart’ seems to be going places the artiste might never get the chance to visit.

After popping up in churches, Ghana’s parliament and before a judge, the University of Ghana is the latest place the thought-provoking song has found itself.

Students of the Department for the Study of Religions at the University of Ghana, Legon, in their end of first semester examination had to answer a question on ‘Things Fall Apart’.

The song appeared in Section B, question 6 of the ‘Religion in Ghana’ exam.

Dr Cosmas E. Sarbah and Dr Mrs Ernestina Novieto, the examiners, asked the students to write a critique of the song.

“In relation to social change, examine Kofi Kinaata’s questioning of the religious life of the contemporary Ghanaian in his song ‘Things Fall Apart’,” the question read.

In ‘Things Fall Apart’, Kofi Kinaata tries to expose the hypocrisy of the Church and questions the steadfastness of Christians in their journey of faith.

The artiste called out unscrupulous citizens as well as Christians who were lukewarm and warned them against fighting the devil.

Kofi Kinaata seemed to have chastised churches that had schools especially tertiary institutions but their members were too poor to attend these schools.

The song has been recommended and praised by many for its in-depth analysis of the state of Ghana.
