The Dindarigu Royal Family has announced the passing of His Royal Highness, Naa Professor John Sebiyam Nabila, revered Paramount Chief of Kpasenkpe.
He was 84 years.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Mr. Yidana Hameed Kobig Billa, Media Coordinator of the royal family and copied to the Ghana News Agency, the family, with the gracious permission of His Royal Majesty, Tidugma Nayiri, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, solemnly conveyed the news of his transition to eternal glory.
The sacred transition to eternal glory occurred on Monday, October 27, 2025. His Royal Highness was 84 years old.
Naa Professor Nabila served as the Wulugunaba, Paramount Chief of the Kpasenkpe Traditional Area, and was widely revered for his distinguished contributions to traditional leadership, national service, and academia.
His legacy includes a remarkable career in public service and governance.
He was a Member of Parliament for the Walewale Constituency and held ministerial positions in the erstwhile third republic, including Minister for Presidential Affairs and Information, and Minister in-charge of National Security.
In the realm of traditional leadership, according to the statement, he served two terms as President of the National House of Chiefs and was a three-term Member of the Council of State.
His influence extended into religious and academic spheres as a pioneering figure of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, and as a Professor of Geography and Resource Development at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The Dindarigu Royal Family described him as “a towering symbol of traditional leadership, cultural preservation, and national service,” adding that “his life’s work bridged the sacred and the civic, leaving an indelible mark on the Mamprugu Kingdom, the Gbewaa Chieftaincy fraternity, and the Republic of Ghana.”
Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Monday, 17th November 2025; Burial Tuesday, 18th to Sunday, 23rd November 2025.
Customary activities will take place in December 2025, while the memorial service will be held on a date to be announced. Final funeral rites will also be communicated in due course.

“The land mourns. A royal pillar has fallen,” the family declared in a statement.
The Dindarigu Royal Family and the Kpasenkpe Traditional Council extended heartfelt gratitude to all who have expressed condolences and support during this time of mourning.
