A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for sexually abusing his teenage daughter over an extended period, the Upper West Regional Police Command has announced.
Kwame Ti-Zaaekuu was convicted by the Lawra Circuit Court on Friday, July 24, 2026, on charges of incest and threat of death. The court, presided over by His Honour Stanley Adjei, found the accused guilty after a full trial.
According to police investigations, the convict repeatedly sexually abused his 17-year-old biological daughter, who is a Junior High School student.
The abuse took place over a prolonged period, with the accused threatening to kill the victim if she ever disclosed his actions to anyone.
The court sentenced Ti-Zaaekuu to 20 years’ imprisonment for incest and an additional 10 years for threat of death, with both sentences to run concurrently. The convict will serve his term with hard labour.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court directed the Department of Social Welfare in Lawra to provide counselling and psychosocial support to the survivor to aid her recovery from the trauma.
The Upper West Regional Police Command has commended the professionalism of the investigators and prosecutor whose efforts led to the successful conviction.
In a statement, the Command encouraged the public to promptly report all forms of sexual and domestic abuse to the Police for appropriate action.
