Mawuli School in Ho has held its 75th Anniversary, a spectacle of colour, symbolism, and pride, with students, alumni, and dignitaries gathering under the theme, “Empowering the Head, Heart, and Hand into the Future.”
The celebration beautifully fused art, heritage, and purpose, reflecting the school’s enduring legacy of discipline, excellence, and leadership.
Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, joined the leadership, staff, and old students of the school to mark the milestone, describing it as “a celebration of vision and transformation.”
The event, he said, reaffirmed Mawuli’s reputation as a beacon of academic and moral excellence in the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.
The school’s anniversary logo, an elegant blend of green and yellow intertwined with the iconic torch of enlightenment, stood proudly on banners, canopies, and backdrops, representing the light of knowledge that has guided generations of Haviwo (old students).
The aesthetic harmony of the setup, from the stage design to the traditional drapery, reflected the school’s values of creativity, order, and progress.
Earlier in the day, dignitaries joined hands to cut the sod for the construction of a 650-capacity dormitory for male and female students, a timely infrastructural boost designed to ease accommodation pressure and enhance learning conditions.
Mr Gunu commended Mawuli School’s leadership for sustaining excellence over the decades, saying, “For 75 years, Mawuli has produced citizens of integrity, intellect, and impact. The school’s legacy is one of empowerment, nurturing minds and building character.”
Announcing government support, the Minister for Education, on behalf of the Vice President, revealed plans for a GHS300 million investment to improve infrastructure in selected Category A, B and C schools, with Mawuli School among the beneficiaries.
The Vice President also made a personal donation of GHS 50,000 to support the school’s development initiatives.

He disclosed ongoing plans to establish a School of Pharmacology and Biomedical Engineering in Keta, a new university in Jasikan, and a Centre of Excellence Special School in Ho, all aimed at broadening access to quality education in the Volta Region.
The anniversary celebration, which blended music, culture, and art, left a lasting impression of unity and renewal. The carefully designed emblems, colourful décor, and meaningful ceremonies together embodied the spirit of Mawuli, 75 years of nurturing the head, the heart, and the hand for service to God and country.
