Mawuli School in Ho has held a colourful change of command ceremony for its Army Cadet Corps, with strong calls for discipline, leadership, and service to community and nation.
The event was graced by Captain Ishmael Mensah of the 66 Artillery Regiment, who served as the Review Officer, alongside school authorities, staff, students, and invited guests.
Mr. Benjamin Deh, Headmaster of Mawuli School, urged students to lead by example, inspire their peers, and uphold the values that make Mawuli School proud.
He explained that the establishment of the cadet corps was aimed at instilling discipline and leadership qualities among students.
“The cadet corps promotes responsibility, resilience, resourcefulness, endurance, and perseverance. It has been very helpful in maintaining discipline in the school over the years,” he said.
Mr. Deh expressed appreciation to the instructors, teachers, and Military Instructors in Charge (MICs) who had supported and guided the cadets, describing their contributions as vital to shaping future leaders.
He also appealed to the Review Officer to consider recruiting some of the cadets into the armed forces in future, given their discipline, energy, and commitment to service.
“I extend a big congratulation to all the boys and girls paraded here today, and also to the former cadet corps members of this school for their contribution to our tradition of excellence,” he added.
Captain Mensah, speaking on behalf of the Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery Regiment, praised the significance of the ceremony, saying it symbolised continuity, growth, and leadership development.
He commended the outgoing cadet leaders for their dedication, discipline, and sacrifices in guiding the corps to greater heights. “Leadership is not measured only by the position you hold, but by the impact you leave behind, and you have truly left a mark,” he stated.
To the incoming leaders, he advised humility, integrity, and courage in carrying out their duties. “Remember, leadership is about service, not privilege,” he stressed, urging them to always uphold the values of the Ghana Armed Forces and the institution they represent.
The Review Officer further commended the headmaster, staff, and entire Mawuli School community for their consistent support to the cadet programme, which he said instills discipline, patriotism, and teamwork among the youth.
He expressed optimism that the corps would continue to inspire and produce young men and women ready to serve their communities and the nation with excellence.
The parades ceremony and demonstrations by the cadets, symbolising the smooth transfer of command and the continuation of a proud tradition of discipline and leadership at Mawuli School.
