MCE pledges to make Ledzokuku municipality brightest, cleanest in Ghana

Mr Israel Adjetey Otchwenmah, Ledzokuku Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has announced that the Ledzokuku Municipality is on course to become the brightest and cleanest area in the country.

Mr Otchwenmah made this statement during the National Sanitation Day cleanup exercise which saw a massive turnout of residents and stakeholders.

The exercise, which was held in collaboration with the Church of Pentecost, Teshie Zone, wasparticipated in by dignitaries, including Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister for Local Governance, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ms. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Deputy Minister of LocalGovernance Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr. Benjamin Narteh Ayiku, Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, Pastor Martin Owusu, Church of Pentecost, Teshie Zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Amartei, Municipal Chief Imam, Nene, Oboade Notse King Professor Odaifio Welensti III, the Nungua Mantse and others. 

It also brought together municipal staff, assembly members, youth groups, traditional leaders, market women, and local organisations who cleared choked gutters, desilted drains, swept streets, and collected heaps of refuse from public places and residential areas.

Speaking at the event, the MCE expressed his appreciation to the people of Ledzokuku for their active participation and commitment to maintaining a clean environment and noted that the high level of community involvement demonstrated the residents’ readiness to support government efforts in promoting good sanitation and sustainable urban development. 

He reiterated the assembly’s commitment to sustain the initiative beyond the national cleanup day, adding that plans were underway to introduce measures to beautify public spaces, and ensure that the area remained clean and attractive to investors.

The MCE encouraged residents to take ownership of their environment and observe proper waste management practices, emphasising that achieving cleanliness required collective responsibility.

He also gave the assurance that the assembly would continue to enforce sanitation bylaws to ensure compliance.

He commended the Church of Pentecost-Teshie Zone, the Ghana National Fire Service, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the National Disaster Management Organization, Frimps Oil, and former MCE, Mr. Daniel Amartey Mensah, for the various roles they played, including the provision of fuel and water. 

He also applauded assembly members, staff, and residents who fully participated in the exercise.
