The Methodist Church Ghana has inducted nine new Diocesan Lay Chairmen to serve various Dioceses of the Church with a call on them to be servant leaders.
They are Sis. Dr. Monica Dede T. A. Yawson of Cape Coast Diocese, Sis. Henrietta Atta Angmor of Accra Diocese, Bro. Justice Amoh of Sekondi Diocese, Bro. Seth Oduro Arthur of Winneba Dioces and Bro. Samuel Kwesi Appah Peniel of Koforidua Diocese.
Others are Bro. Frank Inkum Eyiah of Akyem Oda Diocese, Bro. Rexford R. Amponsah of Tema Diocese, Bro. Evang. Edward Nyarko Hanson of Nkawkaw Diocese, and Bro. Castro Kwabena Owusu Manu of Ho Diocese.
These individuals from the Southern Sector of the Church are to assist the Diocesan Bishops in leading the dioceses, ensuring the implementation of the Church’s decisions, and serving as a member of the Diocesan Executive.
They are also responsible for cooperating with the Bishop, supporting the Church’s initiatives, and ensuring that the Church’s Constitution is followed in their leadership.
The Most Reverend Professor J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana said it was a great and delicate responsibility given to these Lay Chairmen to serve.
He said it was a privilege and an opportunity they must use in fulfillment of the Lord’s will, and they must not allow to degenerate into abuse through the weakness of the flesh.
The Presiding Bishop exhorted congregation to give the Lay Chairmen due honour and support in their work as Servants of Christ.
He said the Lay Chairmen would help the various Bishops at the Dioceses in the execution of the task of Ministry.
“We believe that both the Lay Chairmen and Clergy come to God’s work with certain grace, gifts, abilities, and talents,” he said.
The Presiding Bishop said the whole idea was to let people bring their different gifts to help the Ministry of the Church.

The Most Reverend Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu said almost all of them were very experienced in their fields from administration, law, education to construction.
“And so we expect that they would bring all these gifts to bear on their work of the Church to move God’s Church forward to His glory,” he added.
The Most Reverend Dr Paul Boafo, the immediate Past Presiding Bishop of the Church, prayed for their leadership bear fruit that would abide to the glory of God.
